570-OFBD - 13.7oz "Old Faded Blue" Selvedge Denim - Classic Straight

ONI has been our holy grail brand from the very beginning, and we've finally been able to build a relationship with the brand and owner Masao Oishi. The brand is as old school and secretive as it appears. They use traditional construction methods to create low-tension, irregular, slubby denim that has a cult following. Their selvedge tickles the ancient part of our brain that makes us love denim so much. ONI does one thing and they do it to perfection. We can't wait to explore their wonderful world of fabric and fits with you guys.

We were so excited for this denim because it is one gorgeous shade of indigo. These are clearly inspired by natural indigo used on vintage denim — a color we rarely see today unless it is natty indigo. Oish-san has accomplished this wonderful classic blue color by dipping the denim fewer times than the norm. They've also added a bit of sulfide for that secret denim greencast look Oni is known for. We couldn't think of a better fit than this new 570 "Classic Straight" to match the selvedge's vibe. You can expect all the wonderful details you're used to including the hidden rivets and all the oni branding. We were also lucky enough to get the back pocket arcuates this time, as well! We think this contrast stitching on that vintage Wrangler inspired color makes this pair a bit of perfection.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 33 in this Classic Straight Fit. This is his standard waist size in Oni Denim. This fit is for guys who want a roomier cut, but still want a bit of tailoring. It's not as slim as the Neat Straight and not as baggy as the Relaxed Straight. It definitely feels like a modern update to a straight fit with a slight taper to the knee that continues straight to the hem. Tommy is 5'10," 170lbs, with a 32-33" waist.
